BOARDING HORSES
The
Center offers convenient on-campus boarding for your
horse. Our facilities include barn stalls, covered
pipe paddocks and pastures. In order to board a horse
at the Center, you must be enrolled in our lesson programs.
If you would like to experience the rewards of horse
ownership without having to buy a horse, we offer leases
of UC Davis-owned horses to participants who have completed
an advanced level riding course with us.
WORK EXCHANGE PROGRAM
If
you have taken our beginning lessons and know you
want to continue riding while learning more about
all aspects of horse care and stable management,
the Work Exchange Program has something to offer
you. In return for your time working at the barn,
you will receive one group lesson per week. Priority
is given to UC Davis students. A work exchange meeting
is scheduled for Tuesday, April
3rd at
3pm at the Equestrian Center, at
the Center. Stop by the Equestrian Center for more
information, or call us at 752-2372.
GUARDIAN ANGEL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
If you love spending time with horses and would like
to give a favorite horse extra attention, this program may be for you.
Guardian Angels pick a special horse and groom, bath, graze and attend
to them in a personal way. The horses love their Angels! Beginning level
I lessons or equivalent experience is required to ensure safe handling
skills have been met and approved. Angels must be 14 years of age or
older.
BELOVED OLD
HORSE ADOPTION PROGRAM
The Beloved Old Horse Adoption Program is an adoption
program set up for retired lesson horses. These kind, and generous horses
are people friendly, healthy and up to date on all vaccinations, farrier,
and worming schedules. They need long term, happy homes and are suitable
as companion animals and pasture-mates. For more information, call the
EQC at 752-2372.
