This is Outdoor Adventures’ program for potential backpacking guides and TAs. Candidates should have previous backpacking and wilderness navigation experience, as well as demonstrable leadership and teaching skills. The Wilderness Navigation class is recommended for those with no prior backcountry navigation experience.

South Fork American: Class III
You’ll spend an exciting day paddling a guided raft down the thrilling whitewater of the nearby South Fork, California’s most popular whitewater run. Join us for an exciting day in the heart of California Gold Country. Many groups take advantage of these trips to share an adventure with friends. One-day trips are offered every weekend beginning in April. Transportation not provided.

Do you want to develop your sea kayaking skills, lead trips, and become an Outdoor Adventures guide? If so, this intensive course is for you. We will spend three classroom sessions and two weekends working on paddling, safety, navigation, rescue, leadership, and teaching skills. This school is conducted by our senior instructors in the challenging coastal environments of Tomales Bay, San Francisco Bay, and the outer coast. All kayaking equipment and group camping gear is provided. Transportation is provided. Entry into the Sea Kayak School is by application and interview. Previous sea kayaking experience is not required.
