This 2 day workshop is an extension of the standard 8 hour Wilderness First Aid course. The focus being on good basic life support techniques as well as environmental issues that arise in the wilderness. The class is mostly hands on skills with the use of scenarios and labs.

Students completing the course will receive a 16hr Wilderness First Aid Card (good for two years) and an OSHA Approved CPR Card (good for two years). This meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for most CPR/ First Aid training needs.

This training is put on by our friends at Sierra Rescue and will be held at the Outdoor Adventures Lodge. 

 

 

Backpacking

Backpacking

This course will teach participants the basics of backpacking in a 2 hour classroom session before they head out into the wild for an amazing weekend adventure. Outdoor Adventures guides will go over backpacking equipment, what to pack and how to pack it, meal planning, and leave no trace techniques. 

The weekend adventure will travel to Desolation Wilderness, a well-known destination in the Sierras. This route has it all; sweeping mountain views, alpine lakes, grassy meadows, all without too much of a challenge. To top it all off, there’s no better way to cool down than wading in the beautiful lakes along the way. 

Outdoor Adventures will provide transportation, group camping equipment breakfast and group dinner. 

Participants are responsible for bringing their personal camping equipment (sleeping bag/pad), and lunches.

Backpacking

The Cache Creek Wilderness is located just east of Clear Lake, CA. This area has beautiful grassy rolling hills and bountiful wildlife. The terrain in this area is relatively flat which makes for great entry-level hiking.

This trip is a great way to get acquainted with one of California's most popular destinations without having to leave all of your creature comforts at home. We will utilize a car camping site close to the lake so that participants will be able to explore the area by hiking and site-seeing during the day before returning to their camp for a nice dinner and a much needed rest in their comfy tent. Participants will have the chance to learn about basic camping skills such as camp set up, and cooking. This is an awesome trip for anyone looking to unwind after a long week.

Outdoor Adventures will provide transportation, group camping equipment breakfast and group dinner. 

Participants are responsible for bringing their personal camping equipment (sleeping bag/pad), and lunches.


During the pre-trip meeting we will discuss trip logistics, dietary restrictions as well as, weather concerns. Please make every effort to attend.

Join Outdoor Adventure's staff on Monday nights to learn how to cast with a fly fishing rod. The cast in fly fishing one of the most important skills a beginner fly fisher must learn before getting out on their local river, lake or stream. Outdoor Adventures will provide all the equipment and instruction necessary, all you need is an interest in learning and a positive attitude.

This class will introduce participants to the immensely popular sport of fly fishing. Outdoor Adventures’ instructors will cover topics such as essential equipment, proper form, fly tying and how to think like a fish over 3 classroom sessions before a weekend long adventure to a fishy river! For this class Outdoor Adventures will provide instruction, fly fishing equipment, and group camping equipment. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own California Fishing License (required) as well as their own food for the weekend adventure. This trip will be run in the CO-OP style meaning transportation and food are not provided. Guides will discuss meal options and set up carpool during the pre-trip meeting.

Join Outdoor Adventures on an amazing day of hiking around one of California's most beautiful and pristine locations. Lake Tahoe lies at 6,225 ft (1,897 m), straddles the state line between California and Nevada, west of Carson City, and is the largest alpine lake in North America

Our day hike locations are chosen to be accessible for all ability levels. Some might find the hike a little challenging while others will find it very manageable. All of our trips hike as a group, allowing for an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Join Outdoor Adventures for our Open Kayak Sessions at the Rec Pool every Wednesday night at 7:00pm to 8:00pm. This dedicated time at the Rec Pool is a great opportunity to work on your kayaking skills and meet new friends. No instruction is provided. Equipment is available for free on a first come, first served basis.

Are you curious about Rock Climbing but you just don't know where to start? Do you climb indoor but want to take your skills outside? Are you interested in spending a day with other people who have the same curiosity or passion? If you've answered yes, then this trip is for you.

We will spend the day at Cosumnes River Gorge climbing routes rated easy to intermediate depending on the group experience level.

Outdoor Adventures will provide experienced and highly trained guides, transportation to and from the site, and all essential equipment including shoes and harnesses.

Participants are responsible for bringing their own lunch, snacks and plenty of water.

Stand-up Paddle Boarding (SUP) is an outdoor water sports activity in which a rider stands up on a large board and uses a paddle to move through the water. Participants in our 1 hour Intro to SUP clinic will learn about SUP equipment, paddling technique, self rescue and safety. After completing Introduction to Stand-up Paddle Boarding participants will have all the skills necessary to explore their favorite lake, ocean or stream on their own.

Outdoor Adventures provides all necessary equipment and instruction.

Join Outdoor Adventures on this morning paddle board excursion to Lake Solano. Located only 30 minutes from Davis, Lake Solano is a wonderful destination for anyone looking for a quick get-away. The area is a birder's paradise with many varieties of bird from water fowl to raptors of all shapes and sizes. This is a great trip for people who are interested in learning about this emerging sport

Outdoor Adventures will provide transportation, equipment, and guides.

Trip meets at Outdoor Adventures at 8am and will conclude by 1pm.

Participants are encouraged to bring snacks or a lunch for the drive back as well as plenty of drinking water.

You'll spend an exciting day paddling a guided raft down the thrilling whitewater rapids of the nearby South Fork of the American River, California's most popular whitewater run. Many groups take advantage of these trips to share an adventure with friends. You just need to show up and be ready to paddle, we will take care of the rest.

Come enjoy a fantastic day on the river with OA!

Participants will be responsible for bringing their own lunch and snacks as well as providing their own transportation to the put-in location.

This activity has an age minimum of 15 years old.
