Facility Rules
REC POOL RULES
- All Rec Pool users are required to use the main gate for access into the facility and sign the UC Davis Waiver of Liability upon entrance. Guests 17 years and younger require a parent or guardian's signature.
- Swimming is only allowed when a lifeguard is present.
- Swimmers must abide by rules and requests made by lifesaving personnel. Rule violation may result in ejection.
- Swimmers must wear bathing suits, e.g. swim trunks, swimsuits, athletic apparel, jammers, swim shirts/rash guards. No cotton, denim, or excessively baggy clothing. Absorbent materials such as cotton can break down in the water and clog pool filters. Lycra and nylon are the best non-absorbent materials for swimwear.
- Foul or abusive language is not permitted.
- No backward jumps, flips, or twists from the side of the pool.
- No running, pushing, shoving, rough play, shoulder rides, or chicken fights.
- Hanging on basketball hoops, volleyball nets, or lane lines is not permitted.
- No prolonged breath-holding or underwater swimming. Attempting to swim the length of the pool is not allowed.
- Inflatables and pool noodles are not permitted. Small diving toys and beach balls are allowed and subject to approval.
- No public display of affection that is inappropriate for a family environment.
- Alcohol, illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia and tobacco products (including e-cigarettes) are prohibited.
- No glass, candles or open-flame devices. Food and drink are permitted in non-pool areas.
- All bags are subject to search upon entry.
- Diving in the lap pool is not permitted except during a coached practice.
- Floatation devices must be coast guard-approved and are available upon request. Infants, toddlers and any children who are unable to stand comfortably at chest height are required to wear a life jacket or be within arms reach of a parent or guardian in the water.
- Swimmers 17 years and younger must pass a deep-water swim test to use the Lap Pool or the Dive Well.
DIVING BOARD RULES
- Only one swimmer may stand on the diving board at a time.
- No running starts.
- One bounce only.
- Backward jumps, headstands, cartwheels or seat bounces are not permitted. Only face-forward jumps and flips are permitted.
- Swimmers must refrain from jumping until the diving area is completely clear.
- No hanging on the diving board.
- Do not swim beneath the diving board.
- Balls are not permitted in the dive well.
Refunds and Cancellations
Refunds
Please choose activities with care; all Aquatic sales are considered final. Refunds may only be considered before the program start date if a participant on the waitlist can fill the spot or if the participant requesting the refund has a documented medical circumstance that will prevent them from participating. To request a refund, please complete our Campus Recreation Refund Request Form. After the form is submitted, requests will be reviewed by staff and responded to via email.
Cancellations
Campus Recreation may cancel programming due to inclement weather, facility closures, campus closures, etc. Efforts will be made to reschedule canceled classes/programs; however, refunds or prorations for canceled classes/programs will not be issued.
