Each year in early to mid-September, the band convenes for a week of fun and rehearsals to prepare for the upcoming season. When you attend the preseason retreat held on campus at UC Davis, you'll learn or improve your high-step marching technique, start learning the music and drill for the pregame and halftime shows, participate in leadership and team-building activities, and meet the friends you'll keep for the rest of your life—all before orientation! The 2026 Preseason Retreat dates are September 8 - 12.

On-Campus housing is available for Preseason Retreat for an additional fee of $315. This housing fee covers double occupancy lodging, linens, and three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Check-in will take place the morning of September 8 and check-out will be on September 12. More detailed information will be shared over the summer. Purchase 2026 Preseason Retreat Housing
Please register for the marching band and purchase on-campus housing, if needed, by August 1 at 11:59PM to secure your spot at Preseason Retreat. Registration for the marching band will be closed from August 2 through September 19. Registration will reopen on September 20 and we will continue to accept new members through Winter Quarter 2026.
Interim housing between Preseason Retreat and early move-in may be available to those who qualify. Requirements are determined by Student Housing and Dining Services, which typically include that students live a considerable distance from Davis and are staying in on-campus housing for both Preseason Retreat and the Fall quarter. Those who purchased on-campus housing will be contacted later this summer about interim housing. An additional fee is required, which will be billed to your student account.
