Outdoor Adventures offers a variety of outdoor adventure activities to students, faculty/staff, and community members throughout the entire year. Our vast programming offers amazing experiences that anyone can enjoy. For water lovers, we have whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, standup paddleboarding, fly fishing and whitewater kayaking. For land lovers - backpacking, camping, hiking, rock climbing, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. This page is generally updated for with the next quarter's offerings about a month out. Backpacking

Intro to Backpacking: Point Reyes

REGISTER

Description: Experience the beautiful coastline of California on this backpacking trip. Whether you have
backpacking experience or it's your first time, this trip will fill your senses with the wonders of Point Reyes. 

Difficulty Rating: 3/5 due to the physical nature of the activity.

Timing: We will leave the Outdoor Adventures Lodge early Saturday around 7am. Most trips will return by 6pm, however, we can not guarantee exactly when we will be back in Davis. 

Pre-Trip Meeting: All of our trips have a pre-trip meeting the week before the trip. Generally these meetings happen on Wednesday or Thursday nights around 6:00pm. Pre-trip times will be communicated by trip leaders beforehand. These meetings take place virtually on zoom. Link will be provided prior via email. 

 

Provided: Outdoor Adventures provides transportation, equipment, food, permits, and guides.

Participants should bring: Water bottles (2-3 L), and personal camping items. You may use this general packing list as a guide to prepare for your trip.

Who Can Register? Outdoor Adventures provides outdoor adventure opportunities for students, faculty, staff, as well as, the general public. All participants must be 18 years old or actively enrolled at UC Davis.

Timing: We generally leave the Outdoor Adventures Lodge early in the morning on the first day of our trip. Most trips will return by 6pm, however, we can not guarantee exactly when we will be back in Davis.

Wilderness First Aid

REGISTER

Description:

Wilderness First Aid is a two-day introduction to general medical concepts and basic life support skills. It is targeted to the outdoor enthusiast on day trips or short adventures. The course is taught by professional instructors with significant patient care and backcountry experience.

Students completing the course will receive a 16hr Wilderness First Aid Card (good for two years) and an OSHA Approved CPR Card (good for two years). This meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for most CPR/ First Aid training needs.

Difficulty Rating: 1/5 

Timing: This course will take place from 8am to 5pm each day.

REGISTER 

Ski Waxing Clinic

 

Description: Learn the art of applying wax to your own skis or snowboards! Outdoor Adventures’ friendly guides will walk you through each step of this process throughout this fun and engaging clinic. Participants must bring their own ski or snowboard, all other materials will be provided. This clinic will be conducted at the Outdoor Adventure Lodge - 1025 Extension Center Drive.

Difficulty Rating: 1/5 

Timing: This is a 1.5 hour clinic which takes place at the Outdoor Adventures Lodge. Most classes end on or just before 8pm.


Provided: Outdoor Adventures provides equipment and instruction.

Participants should bring: Their own skis or snowboard.
