Join us at the ARC on May 3 for our first adaptive recreation showcase and check out the adaptive Rec Sports we offer at Campus Recreation!

Come as you are—all students are invited to try a variety of adaptive sports including seated volleyball, goalball, blind bocce ball, and adaptive climbing.

  • Seated volleyball: Organized by World ParaVolley, seated volleyball is a form of volleyball designed for athletes who need to sit to participate.
  • Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with a vision impairment. Participants attempt to throw a ball by hand into the opponent's goal. Using ear–hand coordination, and originating as a rehabilitation exercise, the sport has no able-bodied equivalent. Sighted athletes are blindfolded when playing this sport.
  • Adaptive bocce ball is designed for players who are blind or partially sighted. Athletes aim to propel their balls close to the jack ball by interpreting the position of the balls on the court using a tactile grid, or by using other adapted playing methods.
  • Adaptive climbing, also known as paraclimbing, is a form of climbing designed to make the sport accessible to individuals with physical or cognitive impairments.
