Free Self Defense Classes

This class is intended to teach practical self-defense skills and build self-confidence. During each meeting, students will practice executing self-defense techniques. It is important students attend every meeting since the course is progressive, and each lesson builds upon the previous meeting. Please bring water to each class. Wear comfortable attire that does not constrict movement and athletic shoes that lace securely with nonslip soles.

Course curriculum: Learn punches, strikes, kicks, and strategies to stay safe during a physical attack or attempted abduction. Learn strategies to prevent assault. Practice role-playing and simulated emergencies.

COACH: ANDREA KHOO is an IFBB Professional Figure and Physique athlete, WNBF Professional Natural Bodybuilding athlete, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Kickboxing and fitness professional for over 29 years. She is a Nationally certified Self Defense specialist and coached Self Defense at UC Davis 2000-2020 as part of the Physical Education department. Commencing 2021, Andrea is proud to offer “Practical Self Defense” training through Campus Recreation.
