Experience comprehensive wilderness medical training through our Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course! Designed for outdoor professionals, trip leaders, guides, and outdoor enthusiasts, this certification course provides the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to respond confidently to medical emergencies in remote environments where advanced care may be hours or days away. Through classroom instruction, realistic scenarios, and field-based practice, participants will develop critical thinking and patient care skills that meet the industry standard for wilderness medicine training.
Difficulty Rating:
This course is rated intermediate due to the physically and mentally intensive nature of long classroom days, hands-on patient care scenarios, outdoor simulations, and overnight training components. No prior medical experience is required, but participants should be prepared for active participation, teamwork, and immersive learning environments.
Trip Logistics
🕗 Timing: This is a multi-day certification course consisting of full instructional days, hands-on practice sessions, and field scenarios. Exact course schedules and daily timing information will be provided prior to the start of the course.
📍 Meeting Location: Outdoor Adventures Lodge, 1025 Extension Center Drive, next to the Rec Pool. Some days will be held in Coloma, CA - course instructor will provide more information.
🗓 Course Information: 100% attendance is required for certification. Participants should expect classroom instruction, outdoor practical scenarios, a night scenario, and a comprehensive written examination as part of the course curriculum.
