Fueling your body should be delicious and fun! Everyone has different dietary needs, preferences, and body types and this is something that should be embraced. Nutrition is about providing our bodies with the nourishment they need and loving them for all of the incredible things that they allow us to do.
My name is Alana and my greatest passion in life is food—how it’s produced and prepared, how it affects our bodies, and how what we eat impacts the planet. My combined interests in cooking and health inspired me to major in Clinical Nutrition, and I am excited to share my enthusiasm for food with the world. In high school, I created a food blog chronicling my adventures with preparing healthful, flavorful, and environmentally conscious meals and have maintained it ever since. After struggling with body image issues throughout my teenage years, I have learned how to love my body for what it can do rather than what it looks like. And as a runner, I have gained a new perspective on the direct impact that nutrition has on athletic performance. Being on a tight schedule and budget throughout my college career has given me insight on how to prepare fast, healthy, and inexpensive meals—all without sacrificing flavor. I have worked in a busy on-campus food service establishment for several years, allowing me to learn new culinary techniques, food preparation for individuals on restricted diets, and what college students like to eat. In the future, I would like to pursue my passion for cooking by opening a restaurant or catering company with an emphasis on sustainable, plant-based foods.
