Swim Lesson FAQ's

Youth Swim Lessons FAQ’s

Which level is the best for my child?

Each swim level has a detailed description of skills and priorities that should assist you in selecting the correct program. If your child can perform the skills to be learned in a certain class, comfortably, then continue to the next program up, and so on, until they cannot perform all of the skills. If you are still unsure to which class your child should be placed in, you can sign-up for a free in-water assessment during regular lap swimming times. To do this, you can contact the Aquatics Coordinator, AJ Rooney, here.

How do I register for swim lessons?

There are two ways to register: the best way is online, here OR you can come to the UC Davis Rec Pool and sign up. The Rec Pool is located at 152 La Rue Road, Davis, 95616, opposite Hutch Field and Aggie Stadium.

Are there make-up lessons?

Unfortunately, not. Lessons are non-transferable. Due to scheduling at the pools, the Aquatic Unit is unable to accommodate individual swim lesson students that miss a day of class, regardless of the reason.

Refunds?

Requests for refunds or credits must be submitted in writing (via email) to the Aquatics Unit no later than one month (30 days) prior to the first day of the swim session. No refunds or credits are issued for requests received within one month (30 days) of the first day of the swim session. All approved refunds and credits are assessed a fee of $25 per child, per session. Credits must be used within the summer they are given.

What do I need to bring to my swim lesson?

  • Swimsuit (& Swim Diaper, if needed)
  • Facial Covering
  • Towel
  • Swim Goggles
  • Sun block
  • Water
  • POSITIVITY
