Event Date
Come celebrate the refreshed Craft Center and check out the Maker Space showcase during our open house on February 15 from 9–11 a.m. While you're here, visit our other studios such as Ceramics, Wood, Glass, Screen printing, Photo, Welding, Flameworking and more.
Chancellor May is scheduled to visit the Craft Center during the open house. The event will include live demonstrations in various studios (including a screenprinting demo by the Chancellor himself). The Maker Space showcase will highlight the collaboration between the Craft Center and the UC Davis School of Education, which uses the Maker Space as a classroom for the Beta Lab. Students in the program receive hands-on access to equipment (3D printer, vinyl cutter, soldering kits, etc.) and have opportunities to incorporate multidisciplinary crafting into their modern designs. The Maker Space machines allow students to enhance wood, ceramics, and screenprinting studio projects as well as individual arts and crafts. UC Davis students and community members enrolled in classes at the Craft Center can use the Maker Space during studio hours.
Additional event highlights include a gallery show of work by students and community members, and studio tours. This event is free and light refreshments will be provided.
