FAQ

What is the timeline for the locker room renovation project?
Construction began in March 2025. The facility is projected to reopen in November.

Why are the locker rooms being updated?
The new locker room design upgrades the facility for the first time since it was built, providing greater privacy for Campus Recreation members, making facilities more welcoming and improving operational efficiency.

What are the key benefits of the new locker room design?

  • Staff efficiency: Increased staffing flexibility to ensure a timely response to emergencies or first aid needs.
  • Operational efficiency: Increased custodial services to maintain the space throughout the day.
  • Accessibility: The layout accommodates all disabilities, providing ample room for mobility.
  • Privacy: Everyone will enjoy complete privacy when changing, showering or using the restroom. Changing outside private rooms is strictly prohibited.

What about privacy?
Your privacy is our top priority, and the new locker room is designed with this in mind. The facility includes showers, changing rooms and toilets in individual, private spaces with floor-to-ceiling locking doors.

How many private changing spaces will there be for members to change their clothes before and after working out?
The new locker room will include eight private changing rooms, four private ADA-accessible showers, and 21 private shower/changing rooms for a total of 33 private spaces with floor-to-ceiling doors for members to change their clothes

Who will be able to use the locker room?
All Campus Recreation members will be able to use our new locker room. These spaces include ADA-accessible facilities for members with disabilities.

Where can I store my belongings while I work out?
Members may continue to use the ARC day-use lockers. A free bag check option is available during the renovation project.

Where can I shower?
While the renovation is underway, showers and a limited number of lockers will be available at the Rec Pool during its regular hours of operation. Access to the Rec Pool facility requires a valid student ID or the barcode from your Campus Rec Portal app. The Rec Pool is located across the street at 152 La Rue Road. Please note that lockers are limited and require your own lock. Visit the Aquatics website for hours of operation (please be sure to also check the "Adjusted Hours of Operation" before your visit). You may sign up for the Aquatics newsletter for updates related to the Rec Pool.

Will other restrooms at the ARC remain open?
Yes. Restrooms will remain open on the second floor of the ARC and near the ballroom at the north end of the facility. For additional restrooms and recreation opportunities, please visit the University Credit Union Center or U-Center (adjacent to the ARC and formerly known as the ARC Pavillion) located at 750 Orchard Drive during its open recreation hours, listed below.
