- Women’s Volleyball D2 Club Team at UC Davis won first place in Division III of the 2023 NCVF (National Collegiate Volleyball Federation) Volleyball Championship Nationals
The Women’s Volleyball D2 Club Team at UC Davis won first place in Division III of the 2023 NCVF (National Collegiate Volleyball Federation) Volleyball Championship Nationals. Over 500 teams participated in nationals in Kansas City, MO over a three-day period.
NCVF is the only nationally oriented organization in the United States formed specifically to promote collegiate club volleyball opportunities. The NCVF Volleyball Championship Nationals was established in 1985 by Gary Colberg and is now recognized as the largest intercollegiate volleyball tournament in the world.
During the NCVF tournament, the D2 Club Team faced off against schools from all over the country and went undefeated on their path to claim the title. UC Davis took on Ohio State University in the championship game. They came out strong with a 25-20 first set before Ohio State won the second set 13-25. UC Davis ultimately put them away in the third set, defeating them by a score of 15-7.
Throughout the club’s history, many student athletes have enjoyed playing and competing in the sport they love alongside their supportive teammates. Players relish the opportunity to once again play their high school sport at a competitive level and are grateful to build lasting memories during late night practices and early morning tournaments. One player described her club experience as “being [given] a family [she] will always remember.”
