Fitness Philosophy

My fitness philosophy is that fitness is not about how you look but instead it is about how you feel and finding joy in activity. These values set the stage for falling in love with fitness, allowing long term results in physical, mental and spiritual health to be teased out in the process.

Background

Hey! I’m Pierce Desmond! I am an undergraduate student at UC Davis. I love mountain biking, lifting weights and pretty much any other form of exercise. I grew up playing many different sports, but eventually found that what I truly enjoyed was exercise itself. I realized this when I began going to the gym with my dad in middle school, which laid the foundation for my love of strength training. In high school I found a lot of joy in cross country/track and field which led me to join my local triathlon club. I continued to train for triathlon through my first years at Davis, but I now focus more on strength training for function and longevity so I can enjoy many other outdoor activities for the rest of my life. After building years of experience in many different sports and modes of exercise, I decided I wanted to become a personal trainer where I could help people fall in love with health and fitness the same way I did, setting the course for a long, happy and healthy life.
